Tradition Five: Each group has but one primary purpose — to carry its message to the alcoholic who still suffers

A.A. Business Meetings - In most groups, the chairperson or another officer calls the business meeting, which ordinarily is held on a monthly or quarterly basis. While some groups may occasionally permit nonmembers to attend, the group may request that only home group members participate or vote. The order of business may include electing new officers; scheduling meetings; receiving and discussing the treasurer’s periodic financial reports; hearing progress reports from the general service representative and other group servants; and apportioning excess funds among the local intergroup, GSO and the area and district treasuries.

The Hollywood Squares has a bi-monthly meeting to discuss group business. All members are encourages to attend.

Who:
All group members

What: Meeting to discuss group business and make motions. The meetings are based on a simplified Robert's Rules of order, see below.

Where: Zoom, right after the meeting.

When: Every other Friday, 8pm eastern.

Business Meeting Format

  • Minutes: read the minutes from the previous month's business meeting archive

  • Host Assigners - Daily, Weekend AM and PM

  • Secretary (Greeter / Member list manager / Scribe / Previous meetings minutes)

After reports, call for Old Business or Tabled Votes to come to the floor. - Old Business can be found in the previous months minutes

After Old Business is concluded, calls for New Business to come forward.

  • After a motion to close has been passed, the ends meeting with Lord’s Prayer.

  • Shut off the AI Companion

Suggestions on how to run the meeting:

All participants are muted with ability to unmute themselves. 

Sharing is done by a recognition of a RAISED ZOOM HAND. 

A loose adaptation of Robert’s Rules of Order may be utilized with Motions made and Seconded, Discussion, and Yea or Nay Votes by a show of raised hands. 

Motions critical to the Group are to be Tabled for one week before being voted on.
